There are NIC drivers written by non-Sun sources, but I have no idea how well they work: http://garrett.damore.org/software/ethernet/index.shtml : ADMtek and Macronix (used in some inexpensive NICs, notably some versions of the Linksys LNE100TX). http://www.realtek.com.tw : drivers for the RealTek 8139 chip.

Just recently bought a Linksys network starter kit which includes 2 @ Network Everywhere NC100 10/100 Nics (Macronix 98715 chips), 1 5 port 10baseT hub. I know why a 10baseT hub you ask? Because only have a 10mbps nic in the winbox, and the cable modem interface is only 10mbps, so don't really need 100baseT.
